The role


The SAP Cloud Identity and Platform engineer will provide 3rd line support across the SAP Landscape working with  Cloud Centre of Expertise (CoE) SAP Platform, Core Operations and Integrated Solutions squad delivering Services for every aspect of Customer’s software implementation, transformation or upgrade project, as well as in operations. Through Ownership and Resolution of Incidents and Problems, routine maintenance and administration  and continuous improvement and quality management across the SAP Landscape. Interfacing with Core IT Operations, Integrations and SAP Platform Teams and 3rd   Party Support Partners and Vendors.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communications skills, both oral and written as well as having a thorough knowledge of the business and the technical aspects of the area being
supported and the hardware and software environment in which it runs. Able to deal with difficult and sometimes complex problems.

Advanced Experience of Information systems concepts and practice as well as working in a fast paced, complex global environment with multiple regulatory requirements is a distinct advantage.

About the Team

The IT SAP Platform is a new service offering within IT to support the new SAP platforms covering HR and Finance Services.  The team has been formed to cover end to end service levels to the business services within DLA Piper and is supported by an underpinning 3rd party to provide Level 3 Application and platform expertise.  The IT SAP Platform works within IT and collaborates with other teams within IT and Finance Systems to ensure that ITIL best practice is followed and that consistent resolutions are delivered to the business. 


  • Provide 3rd line support within SAP Landscape and SAP S/4 HANA and SuccessFactors across the multiple cloud services
  • Delivery of complex solutions on SAP Cloud Platform
  • Hands-on on SAP Cloud Platform
  • Interface monitoring, resolution of identified incidents and problems
  • Provide clear analysis on Problems to enable effective Root cause
  • Coordinating with SAP Platform, Core Operations and 3rd Party Support incidents in the Incidents,changes and problems relating to SAP Landscape, ensuring effective root cause analysis in the timely resolution of Incidents and Problems relating to the technology stack and overarching platforms
  • Provid advice and guidance to junior colleagues
  • Progress requests for support and ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed
  • Liaising with systems development staff and software suppliers on the development of system enhancements to overcome known problems.
  • Intervene and provide support for major incidents / Priority 1 Incidents related to the SAP Platform
  • Liase and work with 3rd party vendors
  • Liase and support with DLA Piper Cloud hosting services to ensure the end-to-end SAP Landscape is working as designed
  • Providing technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures
  • Ensuring all tasks and procedures are carried out effectively and efficiently to agreed levels of service or specific requirements of Service or Operational level agreements


The role holder will have experience of working on large-scale international business transformation programmes, matrix service organisations or Enterprise / global services preferably with experience of working on programmes that involve the introduction of new technology and have:

Basic Requirements:

  • At least degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • ITIL certification will be an added advantage.
  • Agile and DevOps mindset – Fluent in both; promoting & demonstrating best practises; leading the way
  • Global capability delivery experience with SAP ERP, SCM, EWM, Solution Manager and Process Integration.
  • Proven experience in delivering new SAP system installations, major upgrades, support packages, and software upgrades.
  • Proven knowledge of operational management software including job scheduling, technical and business process monitoring, incident / problem management and identity management.
  • Proven knowledge of ABAP or any script language to help and automate regular tasks
  • Excellent working knowledge of S/4 HANA and best practices
